…and by “the buck” I mean my ass.
Yes, I am officially back on my fitness program and by extension, Weight Watchers. It has been way, way too long and I have been feeling way, way too gross.
That ended this morning at 5:30 am when I got up early to work out.
Fuck yeah!
I did a half hour on my trusty NordicTrack machine and then some ab work on the physio ball. That doesn’t sound like much, but trust me, as a confirmed couch potato for the last 8 months, it damn near killed me.
My plan is a minimum of thirty minutes of exercise every single day and I’m shooting for something different every day. NordicTrack, yoga (yes, I do yoga too; it’s not just the gecko), strength training, treadmill, belly dancing, hiking, kayaking, swimming…you get the idea.
I’m throwing Weight Watchers into the mix as well because I want to totally rock a bikini (and, by extension, my boyfriend) by vacation in October. I mean totally rock the ever-loving hell out of it.
Why am I telling you all this you ask? Because I ordered a new Filofax to celebrate!
And, like, track and stuff too.
I know, I know…you’re going to ask why, since I have a bunch up for sale, did I just buy another one?
A couple reasons actually: one is that I want something that I don’t care about. Something that won’t break my heart if it gets wet or stepped on or otherwise beat up as I drag it along with me in my gym bag or car seat/floor. So leather is obviously out.
Another reason is that the sole purpose of this thing is going to be specific to my fitness goals. That means tracking, jotting down notes, clippings of workouts/recipes/pictures of inspiring abs, etc., fitness related quotes, anything and everything related to this journey back to health and fitness, so things like large ring capacity and easy access are key, while pockets and interior layout are not.
I also want something I can sticker up and have it be bright, inspirational and motivating. Not classy or professional in the least.
This morning, post workout of course, I went hunting for a personal size Petal. Imagine my disappointment in discovering they only come in pocket. So, perusing Pens & Leather, I found a “deep pink” domino on clearance and decided on that. Not sure how I missed that color before, but it was new to me and while it was between that & the orange one, the kicker came when my horoscope said that I should “embrace the bright pinks of this summer season”.
So, like, I mean…how could I defy the universe and not buy it? I ask you?!
It’s amazing how we Filofanatics can throw a rationalization around isn’t it?
Anyway, I’m hoping it’s akin to the nice raspberry of the Finsbury or Chameleon only more vivid, because I already have stickers in mind for it
: )
I am beyond psyched! Not just for an excuse for a new Filo, but to be back on the fitness horse. Already, after only one day, I feel worlds better for having moved my body, eaten more fruits & veggies than frankly I’ve seen in months and going back to chugging water as opposed to being stingy with it so I wouldn’t have to take the time to pee.
Lame. I know it.
I’m thinking just a bunch of lined paper for the Fit-o-fax. Maybe a few tabs. I don’t know if I could use all of the 6 that come in a blank set, so maybe this is the right time to venture out and make my own.
Probably all I would need would be “exercise”, “food”, “inspiration”. Not sure yet.
Or, the other idea I was kicking around was to go with monthly tabs and just stick everything behind the respective month I’m in. Which would make it almost a journal as well. I’m leaning toward this one but not sure if it sounds good in theory and would suck in practice.
Or, I could have it just be a free for all and not tab anything – just go to the next blank page (though, that makes my OCD twitch nervously a little bit).
What do you think? Keep in mind this is about fun, inspiration, creativity and motivation and NOT (for once) organization.
If you would be so kind as to vote in my poll, I would love you forever. Of course, I already do : )

In my world, everything gets organized, even if I’m not using it for anything specific. I just can’t work it any other way. (so you obviously know how I voted). 😉 good luck with it! It sounds great. I am in the process of setting up a health and fitness binder too. For the most part, it’s done, there is one other thing I want to add, but it’s taking a while to get it done. Looking forward to hearing about the eventual set up!

I’m adding my calories and weight to my regular weekly layout – but I admit, I’m now keeping my filo closed on my desk at work, when it used to be open. Looking forward to seeing how you set yours up!

I thought I was the only person who stayed away from water in order to avoid trips to the bathroom. Well done on getting back on the healthy living horse

@stewart: sadly no, you’re not alone. and it’s a really bad habit so although it’s a hard one to break, i’m really trying. clear pee all the way! wo-hoo!
@tracy: i meant that not drinking water during the work day to limit the amount of time “wasted” by trips to the loo is lame, certainly not doing healthy stuff and most emphatically not tracking if all in a filo!!
@wendy: thanks! i have a lot of ideas, but none of the inserts and stuff have arrived yet, so i can’t set anything up yet : ( there will definitely be a post about it when i do though!
thanks for the comments you guys : )
